Ten Reasons (Not) To Tell People You're Writing A Book
Or rather, five reasons to tell them, and five reasons not to tell them
The other day, literary agent Rachelle Gardiner said this, on Threads.
Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I think you should consider *NOT* telling people in your life that you’re writing a book. Maybe only tell your inner circle and your writing friends, and of course your writing community on social media! Only the true book people. Civilians just don’t get it. They’ll be asking you over and over if it’s finished... if you got a publisher... when it’s going to be a movie. They’ll never be impressed because you’re not Stephen King. It’s easier if they don't know.
