Just this morning, discussing (for obvious reasons) what one might put on a hot cross bun, Mathematical Sister recalled a Jacqueline Wilson novel (probably The Illustrated Mum) in which, on the first morning of living with a new foster mother, the 10 year old, dyslexic, main character puts Nutella on her toast, only to bite into it and find … Marmite!

Oh, the shock! Oh, for some of us, the horror! But the foster mum is sympathetic and kindly, and as the replacement, actual Nutella on fresh toast goes down, the MC begins to feel that this foster place may turn out to be a warm and safe home.
